Small Business Saturday falls on the first Saturday after Thanksgiving every year. This year, it will fall on November 30th, 2024. Small Business Saturday is a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big box retail and e-commerce stores respectively. By contrast, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick-and-mortar businesses that are small and local. Small Business Saturday is a registered trademark of American Express and started in 2010. The City of Bluefield has been participating in Small Business Saturday for 10 years now!

Each year our organization helps promote small, local businesses as part of Small Business Saturday. Like last year, we are working to include any youth or young children in our community that have a passion to possibly start a business of their own one day. We are potentially planning to host a "Youth Small Business Saturday Pop-Up Shop" in downtown Bluefield, West Virginia this 2024 season for any youth and young adults ages 18 and under. Parents or guardians of children under the age of 18 can show their interest by submitting a registration form for each child who wishes to possibly participate. The cost is free to participate. Each participant would be responsible for bringing their own tablecloth, products, and a way to take payment.

Should we gain enough interest in this event, we will notify you promptly and let you know the address and time you should arrive. This event is free to participate in and only requires that you provide your child's products/things they sell, and any other required items such as tablecloths, decorations, and a way to accept payment. We are not requiring that participating youth and children have a business license. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
